Keiko was a male orca, known for the movie "Free Willy", captured near Iceland in 1979 and died in 2003 after an attempt to reintegrate him into the wild. Orcas, the largest dolphins, are intelligent and social, known for their black and white coloring, and found in every ocean.
There are three orca types—resident, offshore, and transient—with different pod sizes, diets, appearances, and genetic characteristics preventing interbreeding. Female orcas have a gestation of 15-18 months, give birth to single calves, and both males and females have intricate social structures in their pods.
Orcas have advanced hunting tactics reminiscent of wolves, relying on echolocation for hunting, with large dietary needs averaging 500 pounds of food daily.
