Mother's love helped woman wake from five-year coma
Jennifer Flewellen had a life-altering car accident on Sept. 25, 2017, after becoming lightheaded and colliding with a pole. Flewellen, 35 at the time, was placed on life support and in a medically-induced coma; doctors doubted she would survive.
Flewellen's mother, Peggy Means, maintained hope and refused to remove life support, believing in her daughter's recovery potential. Over five years, Means ensured Flewellen received optimal care across multiple hospitals and fought for insurance coverage while working full-time.
Means made significant efforts to get Flewellen into a reputable long-term care facility and later managed to visit her daughter daily while working from home.
