Seven countries generate 100% of their electricity from renewable energy
Seven nations, including Albania, Bhutan, Nepal, Paraguay, Iceland, Ethiopia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, generate over 99.7% of their electricity from renewable sources. Data from IEA and IRENA reveal that 40 countries produced at least 50% of the electricity from renewables in 2021 and 2022, including 11 European countries.

Professor Mark Jacobson emphasizes the necessity of using and enhancing renewable energy sources like wind, water, and solar to stop emissions. In 2022, the UK produced 41.5% of its electricity from renewable energy, noting a 10.5% increase from the previous year.

Scotland, predominantly using wind power, produced electricity equivalent to 113% of its consumption in 2022, with predictions suggesting solar energy will dominate in the future.
